Established in 2010, the Aalto University is a new university with 300 years of experience. The Aalto University was created from the merger of three Finnish universities: The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and The University of Art and Design Helsinki. The university currently is composed of six schools, which are all leading and renowned institutions in their respective fields and in their own right. The combination of six schools opens up new possibilities for strong multi-disciplinary education and research.
Department of Automation and System Technology of the School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University has established a national and international reputation in a wide field of automation, control and system technology. The department performs an active research program in the areas of micro- and nanorobotics, process control, wireless communication systems, power electronics and electric machines. The department has a staff of around 100 people.
